Your Kingdom Come

This fall our conversation at One Hope is simply prayer. In week four we came to three words from Luke 11: “Your kingdom come.” Three words that can change everything. To hear them the way Jesus’ first followers did, we have to sit in their seat. They had longed for God’s kingdom for generations while living under a Roman kingdom built on dominance and forced submission. Jesus offered a kingdom that comes when we voluntarily surrender our allegiance to Him as our king.

From Sunday’s Sermon

On Sunday, October 18, Pastor Scott Moore continued our fall series on prayer with three words from Luke 11:2: “Your kingdom come.” … Pastor Scott reminded us that the kingdom of God not only changes the world around us; it is changing us.

Reflect this week: What king and what kingdom are you going to give your allegiance to?

Small-group guide

Teach Us to Pray, Week 4

Opening question: Pastor Scott described how fans complained when the Buffalo Bills’ old stadium was demolished, even though a better one was being built. What is something familiar you once found hard to let go of?

Application: He said, “Your prayer isn’t, ‘Will You bless my kingdom?’” but “May Your kingdom come to my life.” What would it look like to pray that way every day this week?
